Before you decide on what stock system you want to trade, there are three key components you will need to define and decide upon:
Define Your Objectives ______________________________________________________________
Defining your objectives is probably the most important part of developing a strategy for stock investing. Until you know where you want to go, you can never get there. As a result, a major portion of the time you spend in developing a trading system, should be in terms of developing objectives. In his book, Trade Your Way To Financial Freedom, Van K. Tharp lays out a number of questions that you, as a stock market trader should ask yourself such questions as:
![]() Trade Your Way To Financial Freedom is the best book I have ever read on an introduction for helping a person find out and develop a stock market trading strategy and system. ______________________________________________________________ Determine Your Time Frame ______________________________________________________________A very important question to ask yourself when choosing your stock trading systems is: "What time frame do I want to trade in?" Now, your personality will answer this question for you.
1. Are you a hyper energetic person who loves excitement and speed with a low patience level? If so, then perhaps a Day Trading System or a Penny Stocks System would suit you just fine. With this type of trading, almost a full time commitment is required.
2. Are you a laid back easy going person with a long-term outlook on life and has a high patience level? Then you may be suited for a Trend Trading or a Value Investing trading system.
3. Or do you have a personality somewhere in between?Perhaps then a Swing Trading or a Breakout Stock Trading system fits you best.
Commitment ____________________________________________________________
Remember this... If you want to be a successful stock trader or investor, you have to do your work studying the Markets everyday. And so you answer "I don't have enough time to do this. I'm to busy with my job, or am to tired after work or bla bla bla."
Every successful business person got there because of commitment and hard work. Stock trading is no different. If there is not enough time, you have to make time. If you are going to be serious about being successful with stock trading, you have to re-establish your your time priorities, and commit. Take the time to educate yourself on stock trading, then just like a top performing professional athlete...practice, practice, practice! And astute Risk and Money Management skills are also essential.
